Is it just me or does the DCU LapLan 3.0 wifi never work?? I've tried it in loads of buildings and my browser just times out before I get a page up. I've also tried the School of Computing network but no luck.

Am I doing something wrong or not doing something?

    Thanks :)

    Yes.

For Laplan to connect, set your browser to auto detect proxy settings.

For School of Computing, you'll need to manually insert the proxy settings. Remember to remove them if you want to use the internet outside DCU again.

Thanks, they never mentioned proxy settings at all in the billion times they told us about the WiFi :D Should be able to get it working now.

Oh and Achilles, why do you even bother?

Why do i bother? It was sound advice. You didn't read the manual and the instructions were all in there. Would you have preferred me to hold yout hand and sugar coat everything?

What manual!? I was told by the School of Computing staff that the network was called LapLan and that was all. I posted a message on the site for some quick help which I received. I never understood what people got out of saying "Read the ****ing manual" in their better-than-you way. If you actually had intended on giving "sound advice" you could have easily said, look it up on the dcu website it's very straightforward.
    :D
