Go on to www.vagdrivers.net its Irelands german car forum, lots of pics and ideas on it also has a for sale part so you can pick up bits for your car.

    19's...would they even fit?!

I think 17's would be nice though...

Im sure Tossy will be along soon, he has a VERY nice Bora

    Thanks Graham :D

The question i would be asking is why you want to put 19" alloys on it? The will fit - but will look silly unless you go for the right ones, the will weigh a ton and be very soft unless the are from a very high quality known brand.

There are loads of decent 18" alloys available reps and OEM,Alloywheels.com is a good starting point.I think to pull 18's off you need to lower the car though,18's on standard ride height is cat looking.

I'm not a body kit man myself but if i was to fit a body kit to the bora it would be along the lines of the GLI jetta in America which is identical to the anniversary golf, nice subtle front and rear lip and subtle side skirts, less is definitely more when it comes to bodykit. There are votex and oettinger kits available for the Bora but the are very in your face and cost stupid money.

The first modification i would be making if i were you would be to get it remapped and then lower it,either by fitting a good set of matched springs and shocks (like the H&R cup kit) or Coil overs the preferred option.

After that there are loads of little and not so little OEM mods you can make.

Check out VAGdrivers.net for a good starting point.

Thanks for all the help Lads,,;)
19 are proburly to big now that i think of it 18,s in my view would suit better and would proburly look nicer?,,
I would have to get a set of coilovers then,,
I will get it remapped first and proburly then start with alloys and will re spray it black when finished as it is a green colour at the moment.
Do yous know a good place to get it remapped? Distance no object,
    And what would it cost?

Jesus no! Don't what ever you do go for a magherafelt spec Bora. There are too many out there with Rs6 and A8 wheels, the are over done and look crap, plus A8's are one of the worst replica wheels you can get,the weigh a ton!

The only chrome worth putting on would be the OEM GLI chrome from the states, but i don't even like that personally.

Wind deflectors? I wouldn't class wind deflectors as a modification in the strictest sense :D

If you do go magherafelt don't forget the tow bar,big mudflaps and the sun visor that covers half the windscreen :D

    Hi-larious! :D

Saw my first decent looking MKV Jetta this morning in Cratloe, Caracter grille, anthracite wheels, all rather tasty!

One thing to watch out for with putting on larger wheels is that you have enough clearance, especially with the wheel turned.

Even though the 17s you get may have the correct fitment (5x100 I think) the inner area of the tyre may rub against the car when fitted.

I had this probelm with a Passat in the past.
I bought a set of 17s off an Audi for it.
Got them onto the hub no problem and then noticed that they were rubbing badly.

The solution was to get 10mm spacers for the wheels.
It ended up working out well as the car looked alot better with the spacers.
The wheel jutted out slightly and it gave it a good chunky look.
It's a look that would probably be good for a Bora as it happens.

Just be aware before letting yourself in for additional costs, etc.
If you do get spacers make sure you get good ones, vehicle specific that bolt onto the hub.
NOT the generic crap ones that just slide over the centre of the hub.

one of friends had a passat and when he put the spacers on it made the car luck chunkier as well,,
Where would you pick up the propers ones for a bora??
    Cheers

Try somewhere like here for starters.
    http://www.europerformance.co.uk/pages/products/category_results.mhtml?category=eibachprospacers;car=vwbora;manufacturer=eibachwheels;sub_category=1

You'll probably do better than those prices though.
    Google around.
I bought mine from an online UK supplier but it's so long ago I can't remember their name.
The problem with going too cheap is that the spacer can throw off the balance of the wheel and you really don't want that.
Mine worked perfect and the extra 20mm between wheels improves stability I guess.

Tossy talks sense by the way.
Good modding is all about subtlety, especially on a car like a Bora.
Lowered and a nice set of wheels for starters.
Not sure what skirts are like on Boras but they usually work well.
Personally I more or less stop after all that but I guess a new grill and new headlights would work if they're done right.
There's an abundance of tasteless crap out there.
I've seen some really nice smoked headlights on black Golfs, may also work well on a Bora.
I hate Lexus lights though :).

Goodluck and bang up some pics on the modified cars pics thread.

You don't need to get spacers that bolt to the Hubs, you just need to get hub centric spacers,i have 15mm H&R Hub centric on each side of the rear of my car and it looks well with no problems, generally if you get wheels of the correct ET you wont need them on the front, the rears however do sit a bit further into the arches.

I have 18" wheels on mine and no rubbing issues even on full lock.

If you're thinking of a respray the best advice is to stop everything now and buy another car.
