Looking at buying a second hand iphone from the uk.

The seller says it is broken, the brightness doesnt work, but its only 1 month old.

he said O2 gave him a new phone and the warranty is gone on this one and is on teh new one he got.

    Does this actually happen?

Ask him for the serial number of the iPhone and check the warranty status with apple:
    https://selfsolve.apple.com/GetWarranty.do
    (site down at the moment).

The returns process to apple is dead simple.

    thanks for that mate,

got the serial number of the iphone and it still has a warranty till next august.

Now when i put in Ireland i get a different date than when i put in the uk for expiry of the warranty?

The iphone is locked to O2 uk so i assume i've to send it back to apple uk?

So can i send it from my sis house up in belfast and they will send it back to her?

When i go to repair on the website it brings me back to the start.

I have attached the screen shot so pelase tell me what to do next...thanks

    Thanks

I dunno, I think its all a bit suspect myself.

The speaker went in my iphone last week, I contacted O2 who sent me to apple, Apple in turn organised collection of my phone by courier. Five days later I have a new phone.

The courier had to witness the phone going into the box/sealed package or I would not have gotten a replacement.

What I am trying to say is this, If he got a replacement phone then he should have not still have the old one.

Another thought, Why did the seller not send the phone back to apple himself and get it repaired and then sell it as new ????????

    So what you saying?

You think it does or doesnt have teh warranty?

Will i ring apple uk or ireland?

I have the phone in my hand, i think the seller was a bit slow, said they prefered tehre blackberry anyway...it was a woman after all!! Joke!!

I think that the phone is either stolen or should have been sent back to apple, If it is stolen then it will most likely be blocked, If it should have been sent back to apple then I would hardly think that apple will stand over it.

    Eh what the hell!!

God dam it....sure if i ring tehm i have nothing to loose!

What part of the site did you go to to return the item?

What will happen if i try return it to apple Ireland?

You will also need the serial number of the phone to hand. And how do you know that that person had given you the correct serial.

Soz now to be the wet blanket, But better now than a weeks time Eh ?
