Benefits and moving...

I did a quick look round at the FAQ and couldn't find anything on this. Currently on JSA. Just wondering if i was to consider moving to a different city, it looks like it'd mean more job prospects, would I be able to just transfer my details to that city, and claim there until I get a job? I fancy a change of scenery anyway, but if it'd cause huge problems with the JSA (being cut off) I obviously wouldn't be able to. Where I am now just doesn't look like there's going to be anything for a long time.....wondering what my options are.

I can't imagine that it would be that difficult. I would go into the office, say you're looking to moving elsewhere for better employment opportunities and ask what the process is.

Go in and tell your current office you plan on moving.
Then when you move, straight away go to your new local office fresh claims area. You make a repeat claim, provide ID and proof of address. Your new office will request your claim for your old office. Old office will send it up and the new office will then begin paying you at your new post office.
If you are moving from a very busy office you might be waiting a week or two for them to send your claim. But perhaps by giving them the heads up you are moving might give them a little push to have all your documentation ready to go.

So are you fairly sure it should be kinda just a matter of transferring details over, rather than cutting off, then re-applying...? Won't be doing it til at least January as that's when my lease is up, and can't move before then. Been unemployed four months now, assuming there's a chance it won't change soon I could end up moving. Thanks for the reply, just wondering if you're fairly sure it'd be that easy?

I'm positive, however the length of time the whole thing takes is at the mercy of your old local office. The new office can't do anything until they receive your claim from the old one.

ok, but do you know if that's a matter of processing something along the same lines of the original claim, because although it only took 5 weeks to get it through five weeks is a lot to live on nothing or what I have saved up.Sorry for all the questions, it just is important to have an idea what's going to happen. I will of course ask in the office myself, but they're terribly busy and even more unhelpful.

Should only take a week or two at the most.
