    The Irish Lanuage has never ceased to be spoken, has never died, and in its case the correct term is restoration rather than revival.
    In the 18th century and the early years of the 19th century Irish was spoken so widely that there seemed no real danger that it might not survive. By 1845 before the onset of the famine the country had more speakers of Irish than at any time in its history.

    On the 31st of July 1893, the Gaelic League was founded in Dublin by Douglas Hyde and Eoin MacNeill. MacNeill had a special intertest in early Irish History and the Irish Language, especially Old Irish. He later became one of Ireland's greatest scholars. Hyde had learnt to speak Irisg at an early age and had an interest in Irish Folklore. Their aim was to save Irish where it was still spoken and revive it throughout the rest of the country.

    Google has an awful habit of spitting out gibberish when it comes to irish translations
    Use it at your perile!

    Níor basaíodh an Ghaeilge ríamh, ná níor tháinig deireadh le labhairt na teangan agus sa gcás seo is athchóiriú an téarma ceart seachas athbheochan.

    Labhaireodh chomh forleathan an Ghaeilge san 18ú céad agus i dtús an 19ú haois nar ceapadh go raibh aon chontúirt ann nach bhféadfadh sí leanacht ar aghaidh. Bhí níos mó cainteoirí Gaeilge faoi 1845 roimh an ghorta sa tír, ná ag am ar bith eile sa stair.

    Bunaíodh Conradh na Gaeilge i mBaile Átha Cliath ar an 31 Iúil, 1893, le Dubhghlas de hÍde agus Eoin MacNeill. Bhí suim faoi leith ag MacNeill i stair na nÉireann i dtús a ré agus sa Gaeilge, go háirithe an tSean-Ghaeilge. Chuaigh sé ar aghaidh ina dhiaidh sin le bheith mar cheann dona príomh scoláirí in Éireann.

    D'fhoghlaim de hÍde chun Gaeilge a labhairt go luath ina shaol agus thug sé suim i mbéaloideas na nÉireann. Sí an aidhm a bhí leis ná an Ghaeilge a shábhailt in fhad is a bhí sí fós dhá labhairt agus a athbheochan a dhéanamh uirthi ar fud na tíre.

    Be very, very cúramach when using the replies here they're not ideal. Try this for size;
    Níor tháinig deireadh le labhairt na Gaeilge riamh, níor cailleadh riamh í agus i gcás na Gaeilge, is athchóiriú atá i gceist, ní athbheochan. San ochtú haois déag agus i mblianta tosaigh an naoú haois déag, labhraíodh an Ghaeilge chomh forleathan sin go raibh an chuma air nár bhaol di ach go mairfeadh sí. Faoin mbliain 1845 agus roimh tehacht an ghorta, bhí níos mó cainteoirí Gaeilge sa tír ná mar a bhí riamh sa stair roimhe sin.

    Ar an aonú lá is triocha de mhí Iúil 1893 bunaíodh Conradh na Gaeilge i mBaile Átha Cliath le Dúbhghlas de híde agus le hEoin Mac Néill. Bhí suim ar leith ag Mac Néill i luathstair na hÉireann agus i dteanga na Gaeilge, go háirithe sa tSean-Ghaeilge. Níos déanaí, bhí sé ar cheann de na scolaírí ba mhó in Éirinn. D'fhoghlaim de hÍde labhirt na Gaeilge ag aois óg agus bhí suim aige i mbéaloideas na Gaeilge. Bhí sé mar aidhm acu an Ghaeilge a chaomhnú sna háiteanna ina raibh sí á labhairt agus í a athnuachan sa chuid eile den tír.
