This doesn't seen to have been posted in here yet (you are probably all to busy crying at the last provision).
    Animal Welfare
    · We will enact the Animal Health and Welfare Bill, which will consolidate and
update existing legislation in relation to the health and welfare of our nation’s
animals. Among the provisions of the legislation will be a commitment to:
o Adopt the principles and 5 freedoms set out in the recent Scottish
Animal Health and Welfare (Scotland) Act 2006, particularly in
relation to cruelty and neglect, to ensure that the welfare of animals is
    Proposed Renewed Programme for Government
    10th October 2009
    25
properly protected and that the penalties for offenders are increased
    significantly,
o Replace the culling of badgers with more effective and humane
    methods of control
o Phase-out fur farming over three years
    o End stag hunting

    Thanks Minister,
but that relates to carted stag hunting, similiar to fox hunting. Not stalking as in deer stalking:D

I love the bit that says:
"Replace the culling of badgers with more effective and humane methods of control"
What do they propose - cull the cattle?

Good idea , it'll reduce our carbon footprint far more than taxing heating oil

I think they're proposing free condoms for the badgers.

Over time it should be as effective as other culling methods and much cheaper.

I think they propose to catch and vaccinate the badgers against TB.
Can I propose that this should be carried out exclusively by Green Party members. This would benefit both the badgers who would have a new and ready supply of protein and our country which would have much fewer green Party members;)

Incidentially, I just logged on to their website but there is no comment or feedback facility:confused:
If you select "Get Involved" the first thing you see is "Donate" they are abviously learning from their political masters:P

Brilliant, so they want to vaccinate badgers against tb after it has been decided that it is too expensive to provide the vaccine against cervical cancer for our girls?

Typical greenparty, out of touch with reality:mad:

Has it not been "proven" that Badgers do not transmit TB to cattle???

makes you wonder did they vote on this before or after nama....

The time has now come for all those involved in field sports to stand up to this kind of thing.

Putting John Gormley in change of anything to do with hunting sports is like putting a fox in charge of the chicken coop (pardon the pun).

I have been e-mailing lots of T.D's in Tipp during the week and they are dead set against this kind of a ban.

This is only the tip of the iceberg for the greens

On this issue we will all have to unite

eh hate to rain on your parade, buts a programme for government, not legislation. every thing in it is open for debate. just like the last programme for government, nothing is cast in stone. tbh the greens have been played by the ultra gansters that are ff. you got fcuk all that ff hadnt already promissed was on the way or that they knew they'd have to do sooner or later. you's were played again.

most of the bile in the pfg is unacheivable especially with the state were in. it was a big con to get the few antis in the greens to stay on board and support nama.

More waste of taxpayers money, and the Greens themselves are a waste of precious oxygen and resources on this planet.
If they push their anti fieldsport agenda, that should cause FF backbenchers hopefully to get off their Armani suited asses and run riot on this.As they claimed they would.

Thank frig for that. I heard it on the radio today and couldn't figure out the logic!

I saw that a while ago and am amazed that coursing is not mentioned with a word. I am with the fact that vaccinating badgers is plain idiocy and IMO will never be financed. And yes, this after the they denied girls the vaccine.
