What does this mean?

Hi,

Last night I went to bed early but my bf stayed up drinking all night (he was still up at 11am this morning). When I came down at 6.30 to see if he was coming to bed I noticed that the computer was open on a website about prostitutes in Dublin. I was dozy and tired so I went back to bed, but I'm pretty sure I heard him on the phone before I came in - he said he was checking his voice mails (but he was speaking out loud). I came down again an hour later but the site wasnt up any more. Later, at around 10 I came down again and the site was back up, on the page of a prostitute in our area. He, charmingly, said 'it's just a pair of tits', but I don't understand, with all the porn on the internet, why you would choose to look up a local prostitute?

Do you think it's possible that this was just innocently indulging a fantasy or something? Or am I being a dope?

Well if he has that attitude towards women I wouldn't be surprised what hes up to. If he just wanted to look at women online why would he specifically look for ones in your area. Sounds dodgy to me.

I don't think it's that dodgy really. I have looked at those sites out of pure curiosity. And to see if I knew any of the women on it.


Dismiss it as nothing, but do remember it. Any more suspicious behaviour and confront him.

While reading your post I initially thought, what a dick! I thought "your boyfriend sounds like a creep!" But after a little consideration, I thought, that is actually quite funny. It might be hard for girls to understand, but most guys don't generalise completely when they think of women. Our mothers and sisters are not the same as our girlfriends, and our girlfriends are not in the same category as the girls on porn sites. To a certain extent, porn can form a part (sometimes a large part) of a lad's impression of women (especially when a kid watches from a young age). But often it doesn't (I would say in the slight minority these days it does). Lads don't make blanket generalisations of how they view different women. We naturally differentiate, especially when we get older and you probably shouldn't jump to the conclusion that you are being disrespected or that he is actually looking for a prostitute. I wouldn't mind finding out the name of that website. It sounds hillarious. Imagine your neighbour turned out to be a hooker. There was a black hooker in a house up the road from us when I was around 9 or 10 (or so we all said, because there was a constant stream of men coming in and out in the evening.) You don't sound annoyed about his staying up all night. He is probably just in the habit of entertaining himself on the web at night because he didn't seem too ashamed. It isn't like he was too worried about getting caught, otherwise you wouldn't know. The phone call does make it a bit dubious though. I feel it out subtly though. Maybe you should slip into the breakfast conversation something about hookers and see if his eyes go wide;D
