I'm in Oz at the moment and had planned to go to thailand from mid Dec. - mid Jan. I'm in north queensland so will be flying out of Cairns but the cheapest i can find is $1000 return to singapore.. then catch a $60 flight to bangkok.. plus my bus up and down to cairns i'm looking at $1200! seems awfully steep considering…

So i'm open to other options.. any secret festivals on in the pacific i dont know about?
