How to open bonnet on MK4 Golf from the outside?

    Cable has snapped internally (****e plastic design). Tried paring back the cable and pulling the inner but its so tight it snapped again! Annoyed now....

    Have a new cable and handle etc from Main Dealer but how do I get the bonnet open without smashing the grille or other???

    Any ideas on opening the bonnet from the outside (please tell me it can be done)??
