3 Broadband now available in your area...

Just had a guy call to the door saying we now had Broadband as part of the European Regional Development fund. As we already have 02 coverage (just) I asked about my neigbour who cannot get 02. Turns out they cannot get the new broadband either.

    This made me suspicious...

I asked how long the new transmitters were in place. He said they recently switched on new transmitter.

As this is coinciding with my VERY significant decrease in speed on my existing O2 wireless I'm starting to think that the 3 broadband is just plugged in and attached to the 02 mast.

    How can I check?

I'm in Kenmare. Taking the O2 signal. My ping is down to 729ms to Digiweb on speedtest.net.

I was getting a nice 1M up to now, good enough to watch the odd movie, now have to wait for pages to the loaded.

    Help appreciated.

    M

Sales people calling to your door will say absolutely anything. 99% of it will be complete lies. The other 1% is usually run of the mill BS.

This is not broadband. It sounds like the NBS, which is just an additional investment into Three's already over subscribed and under powered 3G network. Stay away!

Three have nothing to do with O2, so your speed drop is nothing to do with Three's claims of anything. Completely different masts.

Sounds like NBS, Check out http://www.three.ie/nbs/faqs.htm, there is minimum speeds guaranteed in the contract and one networks mast could have no effect on the other networks.

The minimum speed guarantee isn't worth a toss. It's not physically possible for them to guarantee it.
