I am repeating one module a week which means im in college for 2-3 hours a week. i cant get my grant as im not a full time student, and i cant get the dole coz im not available for full time work.
Today i got a bill for 500 euro form the college for fees, money i dont have and by the looks of it wont, im scraping by at the moment. I went in to the dole office last week and all they told me to do is get a studnet loan. but the banks wont give me money, as im not working.

    is there nothing for me!?
i spent a full year working after i left school to get me started, i worked every summer for the last 2 years and every summer since i was 16. paid all the prsi i had to and look where that got me! im going to be kicked out when i cant pay them! this country is a disaster. the head of the dail can blow money on every thing, and the joe soap on the ground gets shafted!

if any one can point me in another direction i would greatly appreciated.

Go to your student union and enquire about the student hardship fund.

Actually info on it here: http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?p=56473167#6

Moving your thread to student finances as I think you will get more help there on your issue.

Best of luck - hope it works out for you.

I'm in a similar situation ie. repeating just a couple of modules and can't get any help from anyone. Spoke to the student assistance officer in the college and she suggested that I try to do the modules by night (if possible). That way, as far as DSW are concerned you are available for work. She seemed pretty sure that the DSW would go along with this but I haven't spoken to them myself.

the DSW told me the same if i do them and night ill be available for full time work! but i cant as the moduals are different so im high and dry!

My situation is a bit complicated in that I technically deferred my repeats in August (was in hospital at the time). I was given the option to either repeat the modules in full or else just sit the final exams. Seeing as how I'm repeating the modules then I shouldn't have any major problems studying on my own.

I "reckon" that if I just do the final exams then I should be eligible for the dole as I will be available for full time work.

I dunno if this would be possible in your situation but it might be worth checking out.
