Optical care medical card

I'm not sure if this is the correct forum to post this thread.

Does anyone know the exact entitlements for optical care under the medical card?

I’m currently in receipt of the Jobseekers Allowance and have a full medical card. I need to go for an eye test shortly. Because I have a medical card and am on the dole, is the full cost of the eye-test, lens and new frames covered?

Thanks in advance for your help, I can’t find any information that answers these questions on the internet.

Hey I just done a quick google search and found this website http://www.citizensinformation.ie/categories/health/dental-aural-and-optical-services/optometric_and_ophthalmic_services. Their is some great information on the citizens information website.

    basicly it says:

"The Health Service Executive (HSE) is obliged to provide optical services free of charge to certain groups. These services may be provided by Health Service Executive (HSE) staff or by private practitioners.
    Adults
Medical card holders and their dependants ... Only vision tests and standard prescription spectacles (where required for medical rather than cosmetic reasons) are free of charge to adults in the groups listed above. "
