That's the best line up all year Ricky fair play to you and best of luck.
    See you there.

    Hi Richie,

Paul Canavan and Timmy SJP should be 60kg as per your confirmation email and not 62kg as stated.

Also the Dec Mcquinness and Jono fight is not only a prestige fight but and eliminator for to challenge for the 69.8kg title held by Karl Joyce. Should be able to get that on soon afterwards for whoever wins this bout

Should be a good night and a busy one with 5 fighters on it.

Cheers lads, yeah looks good so far! everything sorted just have to worry what the ring girls are going wear. Stephen went shopping today !!

my mistake re: timmy V Paul 60kgs is the weight. and the winner from dec and Jonno will be gunning for karl joyce early next year, maybe paddy's show with no knocks?

and dave surely you wouldn't need a head gaurd, I'd say all damage that can be done as been. :p

don't worry about John's comments Khannie he was probably referring to all you dubs on the show :)

    Ricky

  • Moderators, Recreation & Hobbies Moderators Posts: 10,441 Mod ✭✭✭✭Mr Magnolia

A great night's fighting. I can't imagine the work that went into pulling it together but it all went seamlessly from where I was. Really enjoyed it.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,448 ✭✭✭Roper

Yup Paddy normally fights at 61. You could see the difference in size there last night!

Really good night's entertainment, well worth the drive up in the pox! Two stand out fights for me were Hodgers vs. Murphy and O'Keefe vs. Chipchase. Chipchase looked confident and quick and I thought he won the first round but didn't win a round after that on my count. The cartwheel kick from O'Keefe was great and though it didn't hurt Chipchase I thought it took the wind right out of his sails and from then on O'Keefe more or less had his way.

Really nice venue and a good crowd too who obviously know their Muay Thai. Be sure to stick the next one on here as I'll definitely make the journey again.

Yep. Both top notch fights. Hodgers / Murphy was very close 'til the last round. Farmer (Murphy) had some weight to make at the weigh ins and I think that affected the gas tank in the 3rd which is a pity.

Agree 100% with what you said about the O'Keefe / Chipchase fight. Was talking to Chipchase afterwards and he was right pissed off but I thought he had done very well. Looked very threatening in the early part of the fight.

Pity about Paddy and the weight difference too. I was really looking forward to his one after all I'd heard about his fight against Max down in Waterford. The Belgian lad was lethal though. That knee would have put anyone down. Clinical stuff.

I'm really disappointed I missed this show - probably the best card of the year.

Will any of the fights be posted on YouTube or anything?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39 rickylouth

Thanks for all the positive feed back, and thanks to everyone who travelled for the show, still trying to build the crowd in louth so it's a big help when people travel, just glad everyone enjoyed the night.

DVD man never showed up, prick!

But wayne captured a few fights which he promised me a copy( I have't forgot wayne and relying on it now) dieing to see some off the fights, especailly paul o keefe's cartwheel kick which did land I'm told. and nordin ben moh, ong bak style on paddy running up him before kneeing him in the head. pure class just caught that made the show worth while alone.

all the fighters looked great the ones that botheres to cut weight, sorry paul can't do anything about that. didn't look so great coming out of the ring tho. 26 stiches in total between Jono opening dec's skull and lewis somersaulting out of the ring, and a few more i'm not to sure.

smith V ford was a draw good fight for the lads neither would back down even if it did look like hand bags at dawn in the 3rd.

Hope to see you's all next year, Cheers

I told them to work on the curry heard it was rank.

Yes Ricky I managed to get most of the fights for you when I wasnt judging on behalf of the IMC which I was happy to do.

I will forward a copy on CD for you.

I just watched some of the fights today.

I can confirm that O Keefe did indeed land that Saenchai Sor Kingstar special.:p
He took the win because he scored very well under a lot of pressure from Chipchases heavy hands, Chipchase was chasing the big finish with the hands(excuse the pun) but was losing ground to O Keefes kicks etc.

Paddy Ivors pressed forward as he does but could not do much against those two jumping scissor knees,Ive seen Paddy take some very heavy shots before and drive on but these had too much vertical leverage to defend against, beautiful Muay Thai technique to be fair to the Belgian fighter and Im sure Paddy will agree with that himself. Got to be noted that Ivors was fighting out of and above his fighting weight on this one.

Jonno Bracken didnt hang around and finished early to clear his route to a title fight with Paul Kelly of Sitjaipetch Cork for the Irish title, I think the IMC are organising that one very soon, for sure this will attract a big crowd as they are the two biggest dogs in the yard in this weight division.

Paul Byrne pressed forward to force the stoppage to take the Irish Super Heavy Weight Title against Mike Joyce. ( Best Wishes to Paul and his partner from myself, they are expecting their first child in Feb and good luck to them.)

Murphy vs Hodgers. This one had plenty of action over the rounds and both scoring well with Hodgers pressing in the last round to take the decision in the final round, good technique on show from both fighters.

Doyle vs. Hodgers. This fight was billed to be a cracker but finished in the first round as did some of the other fights. Hodgers taking the Irish title.

Great show again Ricky, some fantastic fights. Reffed Paul O'Keefe's fight and that kick DID land although as Roper said didn't hurt Jonno. However, I was gutted for Paddy, (not blaming anyone here) 2 changes of opponent and in the end Nordin Ben Moh was heavier AND taller. Within the 30 seconds of the fight, Nordin threw a very short hook and I could nearly feel the power of it myself and realised how strong the guy was. Luckily the Ong Bak knee didn't catch Paddy although it ALMOST looked as good as Paul's cartwheel kick:). Talking to the Doc ringside towards the end of the show, he said he was almost out of sutures  Warning for all judges NOT to have glasses on their table during shows

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 966 ✭✭✭RedRaven

Yes Dave Ive watched the footage and that kick did land from O Keefe enough to turn Chipchases head. Very good point Dave on the tables, I think the staff placed a jug of water and a glass on each of the judges tables for them, I dont think they could ever have thought a fighter would end up over the ropes but thats Thai for ya eh. BTW Louie did a very nice Ram Muay before his fight.

Great night of fights, really enjoyed them all except for Paddys loss. The heavyweight title fight winner was very controlled and never burnt out, this really impressed me. The fight between Suliman from Belguim and Brian Long from Cork must have been very close.

Nice setup, good crowd, great atmosphere and some nice women too...will attend again

  • Moderators, Recreation & Hobbies Moderators Posts: 10,441 Mod ✭✭✭✭Mr Magnolia

Nordin Ben Moh certainly hit Paddy Ivors some heavy blows early in the round. Not too many people would have got back up from those knees so I don't really think Paddy's step-up in weight was much of a factor. Sorry we didn't see more of the Belguin, he looked like a class act.

The cartwheel kick from O'Keefe may not have hurt his opponent but it visibly shook his confidence. One of, if not the best fights of the night.

I'd love to get my hands on a copy of the DVD if they're available?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 37,485 ✭✭✭✭Khannie

Rickys lad for the DVD didn't turn up. RedRaven recorded some (but not all) of the fights. I'll give you a copy of what's there next time I see you.

I dident get a chance to get on here sooner great show some nice fights and match up well done to Ricky and all the Lads all did great
Sean was on top form and proved far to big and Strong for Rob
Im sure Rob will be back stronger then ever the new year
Paddy had another hard one the step up in weight was the factor I have seen Paddy battle it out in many fights give and taken heavy blows and no one put him down like that,
Paddys a warrior and always comes back stronger so looking forward to seeing paddy back in there again, I know hes fighting in December in the UK

I think my own Sitjaipetch Team fought great Dave Ford SjP performed well in only his second fight showing nice relaxed style,

Brian Long SjP fought the perfect fight against his belgium oppenent and score very well and frustrate his opponent , to take a very clear win in the end and he is still only 16 years

Paul O Keffee SjP also fought a great fight his oppenent was very big compare to him as Paul stepped up in weight for this one
Paul has a nice fast flashy style and while his oppenent was just show boating doing nothing else Paul was working away getting scores and taken control of the fight and when the time was right he pulled off his party trick cartwheel kick which landed well

Well done lads and to everyone involved
