We have a team event for Oct, Nov and Dec... teams of 8 people (mixed).
Fourball the end of this month, Foursomes next month and a Singles just before Christmas.
People put their names down to be considered and we picked 10 teams...
Best 3 scores count out of the 4 pairs and best 6 scores out of the 8 singles with some sort of prize for the overall winning team... something to keep the winter more competitive anyway...
Last year we ran a Left v Right competition just after new years too which was fun... loads of lefties in our club and of course we're better golfers too!

Any other good social/competitive ideas out there for the winter?

We do have a winter league, and a spring league for after Christmas.
Teams of 5. Each player records a score at some stage during the week - you don't have to play on Sunday!! It's usually over 15 holes. Top 4 scores are used to caluclate the teams weekly total. Usually there are 5 weely qualifying rounds, at the end of which the top 4 teams go through to final.
