Endorsed driving license

    Hi,
I'm just wondering, if you get your license back after a ban, and there's an endorsement on it, would you be covered to drive someone's car if they have open driving?

For instance the owner's insurance policy might say 'anyone over 25 years of age with a full license' can drive the car.

Also, could you rent a car if you have an endorsement? Or would they refuse you....

    Any info welcomed....

You should verify directly with the insurer (not the broker) as each company & policy may be different. Most policies have a condition of full disclosure so if doubt ask. Similarily with a hire company re their terms & conditions.

The easiest way is to call their insurance company and ask, as all policies differ.

Again you have to ask the rental company. They may rent a car to you but if something bad happens a non declared endorsement would be grounds to invalidate a policy.

If you don't want have a record of the call you could always get someone else to call the insurance company(ies) and rental company(ies) and ask. But it's always the drivers job to make sure they are legal before driving. If someone is just coming back from a ban and gets done for no insurance then they'll get a longer ban.
