Hi Folks,Happy Friday to one and all.

Just wondering if anybody has any good recommendations for soakage before Friday after work binge drinking?

Prefer to eat before and after (Zaytoon,Dublin on the way home).

    Trying to figure something healthy-ish.

I am a growing lad, unfortunately growing out rather than up..

Couscous is good for soaking up drink, and it's healthy

Berocca. Replaces the B vitamins you lose with drink. Thus reducing any hangover effects..........allegedly.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Berocca#Uses
Berocca, taken before drinking alcohol, is said to prevent hangovers.

Ok, not the most concrete of evidence. But anything helps!

Yeah but he's a MAN. I recommend a pizza from the supermarket; excellent value and cook quickly (12 minutes) in the oven

    Couch stuffing.

    Only for real men, mind.

Two double cheeseburgers from mcdonalds. Sets you up for anything.

Also, eating healthy shít before piling in a feed of beers seems redundant, it's like having diet coke with a supersize meal.

A Pizza or some pasta is always good and wash it down with a pint of milk. That won't stop you from growing out though.

Probably should'nt have said healthy. Its just that with a kebab on the way home, dont really fancy chips or burgers or the like...

Did find those McDonalds Arizona burgers good for it though.

By soakage I meant so I dont have to eat while in the pub, nothing to do with hangovers or that.

Chips and burgers isn't a good thing to have before drinking (though I'm partial to it afterwards!)

I would suggest a good old-fashioned sandwich. Ham, cheese, salad, whatever is your thing. It will fill you up (but not too much, gotta save some room for the beer ;) ) , it's relatively cheap, reasonably healthy, and bread gives you good alcohol soakage. Don't eat anything greasy, keep it simple, remember your belly is gonna take enough abuse later with 10 pints followed by zaytoon.

A big whore of a roll from your closest deli counter, with hot chicken, coleslaw, cheese, onion, peppers, egg and tomato. You could take on the world after that.

I just had the above for my lunch and it was damn nice!!

Do you have a microwave at work and can you leggit out to a supermarket and get some of the ready made mash potato and heat it up before you head to the pub (without getting strange looks from your colleagues) - if not just try get a cafe place that serves bangers and mash or something, it's great soakage is mash.

:D ... you don't think the bisto kids were pioneers do you????!!
It works honest. Or banana is very good..It's got potassium which is rather good for the acidic reaction of the beers. I studied fitness and that was the soundest piece of advice I was ever given by a college lecturer. He said that's why athletes eat bananas before heavy bouts of excercise, alleviates lactic acid agitation the next day, similar effect on the stomach too. Omlettes aren't bad neither. Enjoy yer beers.

in terms of soakage for boozing id be thinking a carb based meal.pizza is great-all that dough in the base will soak up a lot and give you a fine big ****e later.spuds/chips too. a big burger too (not the fast food type) is good too.

you could just not binge drink if you're worried about your weight.

Meat and two veg is your only man ;)

Nice bit of fillet steak, mashed buttery milky spuds and a good dollop of mushy peas. Washed down with milk.

Soaks like a sponge. Make sure you have at least an hour to spare before drinkin, after downing this hod though.
