I've been having a bit of a look around the past few days and the canon d10 looks fairly sturdy. Personally I'm going with the PANASONIC LUMIX DMC-TS1/FT1 as it has the best video.

    This link may help!

I take a 3 year old 6Mp Pentax Optio Wpi with me when i go sailing. Waterproof & has taken a few knocks with no problems.

    -Has good zoom range.
-takes OK photos, sometime takes v nice photos, some samples here:
    http://picasaweb.google.com/Jforrest1/2008July27Kinsale?feat=directlink.
    - Can blow up to 8x10" & quality if good (not excellent tho)
    - it is tiny.

    But....
    - No viewfinder & the LCD screen is Useless on sunny days
    - shutter lag is about 1 second. Very frustrating
    - poor quality pics in low light and at over 400 ISO

I am sure that things have improved over the last couple of years but the camera still works well so i expect i'll hang on to it for a while more...
