I know I need DDR2 SO-DIMM memory but I'm wondering if anyone knows what the fastest RAM I can use is?

    Full model number is: PSAC1E-04Q00VEN

Looking for an extra 2GB of RAM to up the system to 4gb for virtualisation purposes.

Head over to memoryc.com. The have a memory configurator that will tell you what you need. It's an Irish site with fast delivery.

    Also very good is:

    http://www.crucial.com/uk/

Put in details and they give you back the suitable RAM.

Strangely, their memory configurator doesn't list Satellite Pros!

This gives you the compatible ram , not necessarily the fastest. It's not too bad these days but in times past having the right spec wasn't enough , sometimes you had to try several brands,
PC100 I'm looking at you

cpuid.com will tell you teh exact spec of the current ram and how many slots in use (though it won't report details for memory soldered on the mother board) so you can see if you just need to buy 2GB or if you need to buy 4GB if both slots already have a 1GB in place.

Also remember that the chipset is the limiting factor , and ram won't run faster than the chipset.

Found it on the Kingston site, they seem to do Toshiba specific RAM, from some further on-line reading apparently Tosh's are very fussy about RAM. In order to get dual channel mode you have to install matched pairs of RAM.

Kingston Part Number is: KTT667D2/2G which is 667Mhz. Currently I have a generic 2GB 533mhz dim that someone in my old office put in so looks like I need to pick up two cards to get max performance.

Best price I can seem to find is dabs.com: http://www.dabs.com/products/kingston-ktc-2gb-ddr2-so-dimm-4P3V.html
