I have a whirlpool fridge purchased in april 09, there is a cheese smell which ive traced to the drip tray at the back of the fridge, the pipe that leads into the drip tray is dripping an almost waxy substance mixed with water, is there a way to clean the line? the try isnt full but does contain a substance yellow to clear in colour and like a soft cheese in appearance.
    many thanks in advance

also anyone know if it might be something spilt in the fridge that caused it or is it normal, google searches have brought up many responses of cheese smell but im just wondering is it through spillage or normal use.

Most likely something spilt in the fridge like milk. Get a clothes hanger & clear the pipe, it is supposed to evaporate any water from the inside of the fridge with the heat from the compressor, but if something spills & is not cleaned up it can cause the pipe to block or to smell rotton as described

the drain hose on these fridges can usually be removed and run under a hot tap. usually spilled milk which has hardened and got stuck in hose
