£ready - 47pfl9664 or 40pfl9704?

I'm struggling to decide on going for a 47PFL9664 or the 40PFL9704?

I imagine Ash et all - you have the 9664 (47") in stock... what about the 9704?

Any thoughts folks? (ignore the price - within reason! - i've waited 2 years for a proper TV and now I just want the best quality TV i can get for gaming and blueray films...)

I've been through a Panasonic and 2 x faulty 50" Samsung plasmas, all great screens for gaming (before going pop or developing a nasty screen blotching) but motion blur and ghosting seem to be pretty much a thing of the past, part. on these new Philips, so LCD it is...

I have no issue with the size of screen - 50" was almost too big and 37" too small, so anything 40-47 is fine.

I am a sucker, i'll admit, for Ambilight, and would have loved an Aurea, but i'm not convinced its worthwhile splashing cash on an older model, especially if the newer models are that much better in reg. motion blur / ghosting etc. in games. Happy to take any arguments/comments on this though...

£ is waiting, just need to decide. The costs of travelling to Dublin are ridiculous (i'm based in the Isle of Man - no local Philips dealers anymore it would appear), otherwise i'd have popped across to view (although 21:9 would have no doubt appealed to the inner-geek and i'd have spent all my Euros on the spot...)

How best can i order one from you guys btw? I'm happy to do whatever is necessary, cash, gold bullion, oil, whatever, and have it picked up by DHL if you don't want to send it yourselves..

    Hi Retrobeep

The very excellent 47PFL9664H is something we can get very quickly - It's a fantastic TV alround. Nice size as well!
This is €1999.99 in store (well worth that price!) But as a Boardie you can use our 10% Boards Discount reducing it to €1799.99

The 9704 is a new range due for release this month (fingers crossed) and will be available in 40 and 46" screen sizes.
I'd think the 40 will come in €1999.99 and the 46" will be priced around the €2999.99 mark.

All these TV's have Ambilight, Net TV, more HDMI inputs than you most likely can use.
All these TV's have th 200Hz and Perfect Pixel HD along with a 1ms reponse time so handle motion really well - In the case of the 9704 TV's they have the new LED Pro backlighting MASSIVE contrasts and FANTASTIC black levels! - I've seen the 46" in action and boy is it good - even in a brightly lite Philips showroom - cant wait until we get it in here to tweek it. I'd say it will really look stunning.

As far as del to the Isle of Man I can look into the price of that for you.

Payment wise happy to take Credit Card! (Bullion and oil dont do it for me - the 2nd option is very messy.......)

If you would like to chat you can reach me on (014) 474 0788

    Cheer

I'll take the 46PFL9704 then, providing it comes in no higher than the figure you quoted. (plus you give me the 10% on top!) :)

I must be mad to spend that sorta cash in today's world - i had sworn no more gear over £1000. That went well. So weak. Stupid Samsung, all their fault, plasmas going bang...

How sure are you that it's arriving (46" model) this month? I'm getting it in the neck only having a 24" for the TV... not sure i can survive into Halloween time and the 'seasonal' parties with no TV for folks to watch.

I hear Philips are having difficulties getting enough out to meet demand. One guy on avforums said his was a week 36 (early Sept) so it was fresh out the door (he's based in Netherlands).

Will ring you to pay deposit or whatever you need... you about tomorrow?
