    Hi all
    Heading travelling for the year just want to know who do people think are the best company to go with for this and who should i avoid.

    http://www.aceinsure.ie/travel/ are the cheapest I've found. Especially if you have private medical insurance. Travelling for a year will change it - most policies are for short trips - but give them a ring.

    I've insured myself with these guys three times. The last time (this summer), i've had to make a claim for a lost wallet containing money.

    While it took alittle longer than expected to get paid (Just over a month, not too bad), i've gotten my money back in full and they were pretty helpfull/nice about it.

    [I'm just telling you this because most people say you never know what an insurance company is like, until you have to make a claim!]

    Domestic medical insurance policies require residency of 180 days in Ireland. Try Global Cover from VHI or specific travel policy which usually works out cheaper.
