Hi there, im a complete noob, so my question will sound stupid,:D, I have just started a foundation in returning to education and im considering options for the future, I was thinking about doing an arts degree, i like the subject options and they are very varied which appeals to me.

My question to arts students is

What are the options for work after your degree ?

I know a higher diploma will lead you to teaching, but i would like to know what direction people go besides teaching, i know it sounds like a stupid question, but as i said im newbie, be gentle

Hi Cantona, well it would really depend on the subjects you take. I am taking music, geography and psychology through arts, and will be dropping psychology in 2nd year. I actually have no interest in teaching what-so-ever, in fact I want to join the Army band.
Alot of people do have teaching in mind, but the job oppertunitie for arts studnts are endless. What subjects are you thinking of?

English history psychology philosphy and sociology all kinda interest me, its going to be hard pick when i havent decided exactly the career path i want to go, best of luck with the army band, i would never have expected someone doing arts to go that direction

A lot of jobs just require a degree of some description, rather than a specific degree. It's not strictly true that you are restricted heavily in the jobs market for picking certain arts subjects amongst others. Personally I am doing what I am interested in for the sake that I am interested in them, wherever after college will take me is another issue.

Yeah I hadn't planned on doing arts, nor going to college at all, wanted to join straight up but they closed recruitment last year sadly.
Anyway you could go into any sort of job with arts, teaching, admin., research, business, carer the list really is endless.
