To play the All or Nothing game you pick 12 numbers - any numbers from 1 to 24.

Match All 12 Numbers – Win €500,000 -- Match Nothing (no number matched) – Win €500,000

if your really usless at picking lotto numbers this could be for you..

I'm predecting number 7 won't show tomorrow, anyone else any tips?:)

You do realize that there is absolutely no skill whatsoever in picking random numbers...

in my head, it's also a way of donating to charity.. national lottery gives alot the money away. just like any local lotto that supports a club, the national lotto is just a bigger version of this.

anyways, i think you're 16 or 17. when you hit your 20's and realize the value of money and the difficulties in managing it, lotto lets ya daydream about having no worries.

i'm 22 and when i do lotto, i'm thinking about how handy it would be to win 20k and pay of my debt, car and do and some traveling. people do win.. sure a lad on here, sv i think, won 20k in euromillions.

Its not a new game. Its a new way to extract money. The lottery employs stataticians etc like every other gambleing business to try and limit the amount of wins. This will be no different

Granted on a saturday night I have often got nothing. But then again thats in 42 numbers. This is only 24 and your picking 12.

I am not into stats but the way i see it is there is a 51% chance of you getting a number and prob higher if i was good at stats.

Save your money.... Or go the pub at least the hangover will be worth it.

the lottery is a tax on people who don't understand statistics and probability.

Or maybe they do understand them but like the odds anyway considering the possible return.

Do you have to pick whole numbers?

hey you, don't answer me back. :)

oh, and btw, did you win 20k on euromillions? niiice! you're still a statistical outlier though.

ps - you're my new best friend. it's my birthday tomorrow, i'd like a les paul please.

i think it was SV. if i'm wrong, there is still definately someone on here who won.. there was a photo of the cheque.

anyways, for people saying it's a tax on the dumb.. who cares? and it's not a tax. it's not even ran by the government is it? i'll spend my couple of euro a week no bother. odds are utterly crap but someone will win.

I did.. Most in my family have won on it(hence my attitude towards it) . My late gran got all of the numbers on the english lottery before too.... So statistically.. Things are pretty good :p

Oh yeah.. I'm buying one for you tomorrow..

You pick 12 out of 24. The odds of getting none are the same as getting them all. Obviously they're aiming to exploit people like you who don't think it through.

Odds for this are approx 1 in 2.7 million compared to approx 1 in 8 million to win the full jackpot in the Lotto.

EDIT: odds of getting all 12 is the same as none.

It's a form of entertainment rather than exploitation.

I would not win an argument so i'll keep my money.

It's great the way the lotto reverse the process... Good Marketing if you ask me!

it's 1 in 1.35 million since no numbers works aswell.. well that's what it said on the radio on wednesday.

Yep, for any 12-number combination, the odds of all of your numbers coming up is 1/2.7m. Equally the odds of none of your numbers coming up is 1/2.7m

Since either wins, the odds of winning are 2/2.7m or 1 in 1.35m. Not fantastic odds, but a good sight better than the main lotto.

FWIW, you get €4 for matching 8 numbers. The odds of getting 8 numbers is 1 in 11.
You get €10 for 9 numbers, the odds of which are 1 in 56.
The only good "small" amount is €5k for 11 numbers - a one in 19,000 chance. That's not too bad either depending on your outlook on life.

Not bad odds really for smaller amounts.

I understand both and I still do the lotto, as the odds of me winning increase significantly when I get a ticket! It's less than the price of a pint and could lead to the price of many! ;)

Well I just did it there.
I love the odds on this..can't complain at all.
