    Hi All,

Anyone know much about these tractors, Are they reliable, what are common faults etc.

    Any comments greatly appreciated.

Hi, I know a guy with a 362, it is a 4 cylinder AD4/236 engine (bullitproof) great machine for wrapping and for the small holder, is a fast machine on the road, good straight forward no messing machine, hope this helps,

Do you know would a 2 wd be able for a loader, Nothing Heavy just bales of Hay etc,
Understand I would need weights, but would tractor be able for it.

I havn't seen a 362 in a while but from what I remember it is mechanically similar to a 365 with the same 236 engine. The 362 has a shorter wheelbase and a different choice of gearboxes, a lot of 362s seem to have the 8 speed shuttle instead of the 12 speed shuttle common in the other models.
Otherwise I think it is pretty much similar to other 300 series models.

    we currently have a 135, a 698T a 365 and a 390T. Previous machines include 20, 35, 165, 178, 185 and a DB880 (the only non-MF tractor ever on our Farm)

The 365 is one of the best machines that we have ever owned. The one that we have, has gotten a bit shabby of late and is semi retired to yard duties. Its used mostly these days for cleaning out sheds and yard scrapper duties also gets used for wrapping during silage season.

When we got it first it did all of our baling (squares back then), mowing, muck spreading and basically all other work (that the 135 couldn't handle).

If I had the time/money I would get it completely restored. I am currently thinking about giving it an engine overhaul (but thats only because it has been around the clock at least once and the rings are more than a bit worn).

Problems that we have had over the years:
Had to rewire most of it (later models are wired better, 1991 onwards).
clutch (not unusual for a loader tractor)
hardy splicers (probably not unusual for a 4wd tractor that spends most of its life in dung)
lately engine is showing signs of ware ( 20 years of hard work will do that)

The only problem with these tractors, like all 300 series models is they are very over priced.

a 12x12 shuttle gearbox model is probably quite quick on the road but the 12x4 non-shuttle gearbox model is very slow with a top speed of 18 MPH.

Should be fine for lifting hay, just keep axle well greased and use counter weight.
my 4WD can handle silage bales no problem.

Cheers Thanks all For your help.

Any partiular I should be looking at when buying tractor. Not from a dealer I know so apart from Gurantee, Hours on clock what are they key things to look out for.

Condition of front axle (bushes/bearings etc) especially if fitted with front loader.
    oil leaks from engine/gearboxes/backend.
wear on hitch/3 point linkage (will give an idea of how hard its been worked)
blue smoke / smoke from rocker breater pipe / oil spitting from dipstick. (worn engine if any of above)
clutch judder (sign of oil leak from engine into clutch)
unusual gear noise (whine or excessive back lash could be sign of worn gears).
Usual things on any second hand machine.

They usually don't suffer to badly from rust but if it is the older black cab with red roof (Sanky Cab) model, than the bottom of each door maybe fairly rotten, but this may not bother you too much as their is no glass in bottom panel . It would be more serious problem in newer models as the glass would fall out, but I haven't seen any.

might also want to check cab mounts, but these aren't expensive to change anyway.
