Hey Paul, I have owned one for the last 2 years. I really like it. What do you want to know?

Which oscilators are analog and which are digital or can you route them?

Well , I guess the quality of the sounds - does it remind you of other synths ?

It sounds really good but has its own sound. I have virtual analog and vintage analog synths and it doesnt sound much like any of them. I think the modern analogs have their own sound apart form virtual analog and vintage analog. I suppose it is best used for sound sculpting and coming up with unusual sounds. For generic synth sounds heard on your favorite albums I don't think its so good at. Some people use it as a bass synth but I find it a bit weak for bass. The oscillators are thin compared to my other synths and any software synths I've heard. It has loads of modulation possibilities so it can do some really out there sounds. It is a digital/analog hybrid so you have loads of digital sounds in it as well. I would say you should play one before purchasing. I love it though.

If you are looking for a Dave Smith synth that does sounds like other synths I would recommend the DSI Mopho which is also a mono synth but has a sub oscillator built in to each oscillator which beefs it up a good bit making it sound more like synths of the past but with not so many modulations as the evolver for sound sculpting. It sounds maybe better than the evolver and is cheaper too. It is a one voice Prophet 08 which models itself on vintage analogs.

Osc 1 and 2 are Analog and Osc 3 and 4 are digital.

The 2 analog ones have the normal analog saw, pulse, square waves and the 2 digital ones have maybe 100 different digital waveforms on them kind of like the way the microkorg has but these sound much better giving a more yamaha DX synth sound but again only thinner.
