A survey commissioned by the UK Cycle Show has found that British women prefer men who enjoy cycling as a hobby over football fans, rugby lovers, fishermen and golfers.

So this is why people cycle in GAA kit?

But do men who enjoy cycling prefer British women?

Saw that yesterday. Survey at cycling show...hmmm.

I don't think anyone is impressed (except me) when I tell them I cycle. It's more of a "Oh, could you not succeed at regular sport?" kind of look. Someday, I will be able to walk into a club in Dungarvan, with my free jersey on and Sean Kelly completion certificate held high, and women will flock to me. Some day.

They're OK to practice on, but you wouldn't want to keep one.

Dude, you could have totally scored in that nightclub in Dungarvan if you weren't so sauced.

Dirk, your problem is nothing to do with cycling. Using your sample of one (not accurate i realise) it would appear that women don't prefer cyclists from fox rock.

It wasn't a survey AT a cycling show, it was a survey commissioned by a cycling show.

    Anyway light relief for nearly-Friday.

I often thought of catching a ferry to wales for a bit of cycling, but going on the pull sounds better.

@Pete. If you ever decide on the Wales trip for cycling let us know. I have often wondered about heading over to cycle in Snowdonia and get the late ferry back.

Re Welsh birds, wouldn't advise. Anytime I have been in Cardiff watching rugby I have always been very very afraid of the ladyfolk in that city. Most vicious fight that I ever witnessed was a gan of ladies going at it outside a chipper in Princes Street Cardiff. Made the rugby match I had just witnessed look positively tame by comparison.

Hahah. As somebody who lived in Cardiff and Newport for a few years and is married to a Welsh burd, you don't know how true this is....

Any of you guys out here have probably all tryed to get your woman a bike with or with no success. Does that mean you prefer women who cycle? Or does that mean you'd prefer if your woman cycled?

    Corrected!

I got my bike a woman!!! That's the best way.......:)

On a more serious note if it wasn't for the missus I wouldn't be cycling. She bought me my first decent bike as a pressie and I haven't looked back since (except to see if confirm I've dropped someone in a commuter race)

The beauty of it is that when I get one of "those" looks when I'm heading out for a spin I can blame her - she shouldn't have started me on decent bikes!!

I did reciprocate last year by buying her a Pashley - which she enjoys cycling and I occasionally force myself to take on test runs around the town.......

Evidence points that way. The real question is if she'd prefer a man who knits.

In fairness I wouldn't want a woman who cycled, the shame every time she droped me.

Bit of a typo there - is there an extra "r", or did you press the "d" instead of the "g"?
