There's a Bayonetta demo on the Japanese SPN store, it's just over a gig in size.

    http://www.sega.co.uk/platinumgames/bayonetta/index2.php

Iv seen lots of screenshots and videos for this, but actually playing it is insane, she walks like a supermodel but fights like kratos  Her hair and clothes transform into a huge black deamon that devours enemies :pac:

Dunno if I would actually buy it but it's good fun to mess around with.
The game is 50-50 English/Japanese, all the audio is in English.

Frame rate seems a bit ropey in general, with a fair amount of tearing.........nice looking enviroments without being anything extraordinary.
Game is a little too weird/OTT for my tastes though.

Developed by a chap who worked on the devil may cry series, lots of similarity.
Currently downloading the demo but had already preordered a copy from japan as they get it this month, everyone else has to wait till next year.

Haha. Some combos make her go momentarily nude. *teehee*

Really though, it's fun. Framerate seemed fine to me, a bit of screentearing but not the worst offender I've ever come across.

    Fantastic.
You can see where the developers DMC roots are, but it goes a lot further, from the demo at least its got some pretty funky stuff going on, all of it to my liking.

Plays fine, its stable enough to string things together, though the amount of crap on screen will take some getting used to.

What the hell did I just play

It's very OTT DMC. Combo system seems fantastic though, played through it a few times and kept finding new ways to combo (holding R1 down and mashing triangle and circle made all sorts of crazy stuff happen)

Also, is her outfit made out of her hair or did I miss something? When she does a finishing move and her hair turns into a dragon why is she naked?

Also, wtf is that thing she does when you hold L1 down...

Yup outfit = hair. Why? Because.

Must download this demo, because it looks like a good OTT actioner, and the last two entries in the DMC and Ninja Gaiden series were a little underwhelming. Is setting up a Japanese a/c tricky?

Is setting up a Japanese a/c tricky?

Nah, it's actually easier than setting up a US one as the address can be pure gibberish.

Just google "Making a Japanese PSN account using your PS3" and click on the youtube link. I used that to set up my JP account today.

Yup, hair for clothes, the games creator has made no secret that hes a pervert, thats the result.

L1 is a taunt, only works in fights, but regains the meter below your energy that allows instant kill torture moves.

Played it through a few times last night.
Differs from DMC's battle system in a fair few ways:
Enemies never stagger from attacks, but you're given plenty of warning of their attacks before needing to time your R2 evade to go into witch time.
There seems to be no push to vary attacks, theres no style meter or points reduction from repeating the same combo, which is a bit of a pity.

The character model has a really slinky animation for walking, but looks a little retarded when running.

I don't know. This demo is all very one dimensional.

I actually can't play a game like this, the first DMC is a classic but the formula dosen't work when copied and pasted into the sequels or gameplay spin offs.

Also story is a big thing for me in games and this one looks off he wall in the worse kinda way. Its designed to make young asian guys want to dress up in Codsplays and the like. Not for me, id rather watch that Sarah Palin lookalike porn for free instead .

I thought it was absolutely fantastic. I went into it not expecting very much though. I love the variability and how over-the-top it is. The voice acting is class. Am I right in thinking I heard one of the Archangels saying 'Get over here!'? Heh.

Its got roots in DMC but it shares as much similarity with it as it does with any hectic action game (DMC, GOW, ninja gaiden). It has its own mechanics which are probably going to be either a hit and miss with people depending on what they're looking for.
For me personally, i saw a large number of combo's and a worldwide ranking scoreboard, thats all i needed.

I imagine the story is probably complete nonsense. But it should be an after thought for a game like this.

Played this last night and really enjoyed it. Thought it was typical DMC fare until
that ludicrously fantastic bridge battle and the full 360 degree battle
which knocked it up a notch. Controls seemed fine despite the Japanese instructions (hadn't a clue what was going on with the items though) but I think I'll wait for a Western release just to 100 percent grasp what is going on. Seems playable enough in the Japanese version (English dialogue helped) though.

One or two small little problems. Still has that weird sterile feel DMC and the like have (the world itself doesn't seem to do anything besides act as a venue for bloodshed) and the blocking seems tricky. But the stylistic touches (the 'circle' shooting technique) and the visceral combat (the skin actually falls off enemies!) make it seem pretty promising. It may just be the DMC formula again, but will hopefully have the extra kick few games since DMC3 have had.

    day one purchase for me.

EDIT: played this more tonight. There is defo something wrong with the framerate.

Okay from what i gather, the framerate on this horrible. I think my eyes are going to bleed during the cutscenes. When i originally saw this game, i thought it was made for PS3 and then was being ported to 360.

Its pretty oblivious this is made for 360 and being ported to ps3 (weird considering this is more a Japanese niche game and 360 sells **** over there). Looks like Platnium games didn't even do the port. Sega did.

The textures are really flat as well. It might be me but i see a huge amount of tearing and a serious lack of AA.

Unless this gets fixed and this is a really early build, I might not buy this. Real shame as i really like the style and idea.

Shít like this makes me wish i had a 360 instead of PS3. At least i'll have uncharted and GoW soon.

I really like the look of Bayonetta. I'm a massive DMC and Ninja Gaiden fan and this looks like it will quench my thirst for similar games. I just hope it's rock hard. Have to give this a download when I get back from france.

I was expecting a horrible conversion after reading plenty of reports about an inferior port, but while I didn't think it looked fantastic or anything, it definitely wasn't anywhere near unplayable. Although I'll probably pick up the 360 version instead, I don't think the port is bad enough for PS3 owners to dismiss it completely. I honestly didn't notice any seriously awful textures or anything like that ('cept maybe the corridor at the start) although tbh I wasn't really looking. For the average player it seems fine, but as the 360 version is supposedly that bit smoother I'll be going for that.

With so many other good games coming out, this will find it hard to take my money from those games. Its a pretty bad port. You can notice flat textures when you compare it to 360 version. Framerate is all over the place.. though it is in 360 version. The Sega team that ported it did a really bad job. Also the clocktower level is missing from our demo as apparently that ran very poor on PS3 version.

360 demo running with framerate count

PS3 demo running with framerate count

Its a same as some third-party games look amazing on PS3 and we all know how good the first-party ones are. Pity most multiplatform games have a crap ps3 version (except a lot of EA published games ).

/goes back to Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2's bouncey boobs
