Rapidshare/downloading files

    Hey all,

Not fully sure if I'm in the right place here, so if not, please excuse me.

I'm just wondering, is there any site or program or whatever I can use to help me out here. I have a premium rapidshare account and I do a bit of downloading here and there.

I was wondering, is there a way that I can get something that will sort my downloads (or prospective downloads) to download one after another, rather than having x amount of downloads downloading at the same time?

To simplify what I mean, can i somehow make a queuing system for files to download, rather than three or four simultaneously (but not have to manually sit at the computer and wait for one file to end, and click the next one).

    Cheers :)

What about the Rapidshare Manager, available from Rapidshare?

jdownloader does all that and more, it will even extract the rar files and get rid of them then once extracted.

I found that a bit buggy and lead to corrupt downloads.

I use gigaget for downloading from rapidshare. It allows you enter in your password and username so you can resume a download later.

Freedownloadmanager is the best of the lot, has all of the features (scheduling, bandwith shaping etc) each of these other programs offer and covers every type of download including youtube vids and torrents

I've found jdownloader to be the best.

    Hey guys,

    Thanks for the help.

I'm using Rapidshare's own manager at the moment, but in the event of having any problems, etc. then I'll most likely try out the jdownloader which has been mentioned.

One other question. You know those "Download accellerators" that supposedly speed up downloads. Do they actually work? Or would they only be beneficial if you were using a free account (so you could get premium speeds)?

Or is there actually something to them?

    Cheers again.

Flashget is the Bees Knees. Literally open flashget in the background, and once you copy a Rapidshare link, you click ok twice and it will do them in order.

The acceleration does seem to squeeze a few extra kb/s out of a download, but nothing dramatic.

Don't trust download accelerators. I'd just stay away most of them are scams that don't work. Of course if you look hard enough you'll see fluxes in speed whether you have one running or not.

Most real download accelerators work by caching information you download to use in the future. This is not the case when you're downloading files unless you're going to download the same information over and over.

    +1 for this.

@op and download accelerators, they work well on really slow lines, like 1mb, but anythign faster it dosen't really do much to be honest.

    That's grand guys.

I really appreciate all the replies. The Rapidshare Manager is in use at the moment and it's doing everything I want it to, plus it only took a second to get familiar with it.

As i say, I'll try the others out if this gives me any hassle. Cheers again guys. Saves me a lot of messing around.

    +1 For Jdownloader

Rapidshare's Manager seems to have just stopped working for some reason. Was going grand yesterday til last night when I ran out of trafficshare. Got my 5GB today, but it still refuses to download anything (I can still download by just clicking on the link in Firefox though).

Using JDownloader at the moment, and I have to say, I'm not overly impressed. Seems a little sorer on the eyes than RS's one, and it doesn't seem as clear cut or easy to use (ie; i liked RSM downloading just one file at a time. I can't even find that option on JD).

I'll try out the Freedownloadmanager mentioned above and see if that's any better. If not, I'll just try to re-install RSM and see how far that gets me.

    Cheers again guys.

What do you need help with on jdownloader?

    Everything, seemingly.

But it doesn't matter anymore anyway, cos I just realised what was wrong with RSM. When I turned it off last night and opened it again, it reset it's download options for some reason, and i was trying to get it to download 0KB/s. I've just seen now that was defaulted, and upon changing it to 'MAX' it's downloading properly again.

Cheers for the offer to help out with JD though, Jeff.

I'm gonna stick with RSM for the time being. I know it most likely won't be compatible with any other sites except Rapidshare, but I rarely venture outside of RS anyway, so I should be OK. RSM just seems easier to use.

    Thanks again to everyone :)

    ok no worries.

you know where i am if you need info on jdownloader.

i find myself the best way to learn a new software is to just use it yourself. That way you find out and use it for what you need not what someone else tells you it can and should do.
