Is anybody able to tell me who I could get in contact with to organise Maths grinds for JF Maths and Stats (the module taken in BESS)?

    Thanks a million

    :]

There is the Maths Help Room (hopefully) still around: http://www.maths.tcd.ie/~mathshelp/

Very out of date website but you can just turn up and ask any questions on maths in the help room. For free. And it's a regular thing.

    Just don't call it Math.

The maths help rooms are a great resource, and an extremely underused one. There will be a JF helproom that you can go to and ask any questions - quite often I ended up there by myself with no one asking me anything. You could conceivably get an hours personal tuition paid for by the college! If nothing else they will try and answer any specific questions you have. You should get an e-mail about it, if not then e-mail Donal O'Donavan and ask him about them.

Do the maths help rooms provide a service for those such as the OP, who are taught by other departments, such as the Department of Economics?

Though, I suppose that if a student comes to the the maths help rooms, those answering the questions will do their best to help, whether or not the student is taught by the School of Maths.

I've had BESS students in before. To be honest, I'm unsure of the exact "regulations", I merely did my best to answer whatever questions I was asked.

I will definitely need these soon enough. Where is the maths room?

The Seminar Room's in the Maths Department in the Hamilton. If you go in the door opposite the MacNeil, go up to the second floor, it'll be on your right, Room 2.6.

As far as I know, the help rooms haven't started up yet, but should in the next week or two.

Maths helprooms start tomorrow, from 1-2 in the Seminar Room, and for the moment they're on Mondays till Thursdays.

Now if you could nudge someone to update the webpage too :)

Yeah I seem to remember you asking me to do that last year... Pretty sure that here is the only place that the site is ever mentioned though... I'll mention it to the School head at some point as he's the one who organises the helprooms anyway I guess.

The maths helproom starts tomorrow and runs 1-2 monday through
thursday. The time is 1-2, and the place is the maths seminar room,
number 2.6 in the maths school which is off the hamilton building.
Drop in and get your maths/stats questions answered. As demand picks
up more times will be added.

    All the best,
    Donal.

    Emails were sent today.
