(Mods if i am not allowed to discuss this ..please delete)

    Hi,
With Apple currently pulling out all the stops to prevent jailbreaking the iPhone .. I am currently looking at ways to protect my current setup .

    I have a 32gb 3GS running 3.0.1 (factory unlocked) & Jailbroken

I have captured my ECID number and produced a .shsh file from it using this piece of software :
    http://www.youtube.com/user/iH8sn0w#p/a/u/1/F-oSbKtajX4

    My Question is this :
How does this .shsh file i have produced come in to play ? how and where do i use it ?

If my Iphone does have a crash and needs to be restored how do i do a restore and not use iTunes or fooling iTunes ? (otherwise i will be installing 3.1)

I seem to be half way to understanding a process but have hit a brick wall and cant find out the final piece of the jigsaw.

    M.

On a Mac just hold option (alt) when clicking restore. On windows hold shift. This will allow you to select your own firmware.

Look up dev team for a firmware hack. Use saurik's server for your ECID. Both sites explain everything and what needs to be done.
