Red Vinny announces retirement

Theres a show in the 10th that will be worth checking out as it will feature Red Vinny in his final ever match. I got this bulletin on myspace a few days ago.

Hello everyone,
Im not sure how many of you will get the chance to read this, but I said I was going to post a bulletin in relation to it anyway.

My final wrestling match will be this October the 10th for IwW. I have no choice but to leave wrestling.

Let me bring you up to speed.
January 2008, on a tour in LaReunion I broke my foot which caused some nevrve damage that I have never fullt recovered from. I had a hand full of matches since then, none of them near my best.

While away from the ring, and not training, I began getting horrible pains in my shoulder and neck. I have a long history of problems with my joints, but upon visiting my GP I was shocked to find out I have a serious condition that they did notice before.

I will be unable to wrestle after I begin treatment in November.

This saddens me to no extent, as I have constantly been rehabbing my foot to get back into the ring and really make a come back. This is no longer a possibility.

After my treatment, Im gonna do what ever I can to try and get back and wrestle. However I cant really ever see that happening.

I just wanted to say that I have loved the last 6 years I have been wrestling. People I have met and the places I have been, aswell as the stories I have been part of, I would go through all that pain over again if needs be.

I hope if you can you can make it to the IwW show on the 10th

Whiplash posted the above in the Irish scene thread, but I think it deserves a thread of its own.

It is a great shame that a talent like Vinny, a former mod here believe it or not, has had to retire, but reading the above, it seems like he had no choice in the matter.

I remember seeing him many times, in Waterford and Trabolgan live, on TV for both RQW and IWW, and he never failed to entertain. Mostly a heel, he played the part well, but he generally got a good amount of cheers given his high flying offence.

Its funny, looking back years, Vinnys excitememt posting here about his forthcoming first match to see the success he had.

The Heretic is a true success story from IWW, and I wish him all the best.

Jesus a big loss to not just Iww but wrestling in general. Always stood out as one of the better wrestlers in Iww and of course his matches with bingo a treat to see.

Hope its not a night show on the 10th as the Irish are playing the Italians.Would have been nice to have his last match in the Dunshaughlin school they run/ran on the sunday evening.
Either way ill defo be making an effort to go to this, just to see this big occasion.

Ah here looks like i and most people stopped going to Iww at the right time.

I was here in the hanza days alright, plus i have a picture with him from the last IWW show in waterford, definite loss to the scene alright one of the better IWW wrestlers for sure

Thanks for the laughs, the entertainment , the unforgetable moments in the SFX and all those crazy gym wars were you put in a level of effort like it was a main event at Mania (even though it felt like the North Pole)

Maybe rather than leaving wrestling just become a head of a faction or a manager of a Brood like tag team just a thought

Saddened indeed to hear about this. Vinny was one of my favourites in IWW, and the few times I saw him in person, he was really impressive. Good luck to him.
