    Hot! How much?

Very sweet. Love the cork bar grips but I suspect they'd fall foul of our putrid climate in no time. (Either that or some blind-drunk wino would inevitably remove them in the hope that booze might flow from the handlebars...)

its a lovely looking bike alright, urbanvelo had some stuff on it back in June, expected to be $800 and has the torpedo adjustable fixed/freewheel single side hub.

hiptastic! Prefer my bikes a little more simple than that.

The corks grips last a good while, my husband had them on his work bike. Get a nice throttle effect when they're past their best on wet days!

    Silly bike.

    It has no brakes.

I do think putting flat bars on a track frame is about as ridiculous as cycling in a swimsuit.

It does come with brakes, at least according to the Bianchi website.

They've a few trendy Pistas this year. I've no idea what's going on with the brakes on this one:

I think it looks great- except for the flat bars. Put drops on it and it would be a lovely looking bike.

@Tonto- they are TT levers (as I presume you know.) Giant put the same sort of brake on the Bowery with flat bars this year (the one you posted photos of.) Reviews say while they look good they don't work very well.

Wow, homophobia and sexism rolled into the one comment! Hats off to you on that one.

I'm not particularly impressed with the bike, I doubt it'll have the same impact as previous Pistas.

Seems to me there are two kinds of people on this forum: those of us who can get our heads around the fact that although this Bianchi is nominally a Pista, and has a track -type frame, it isn't actually trying to be a proper track bike and it can therefore still be aesthetically and functionally satisfying on its own terms...

    ...and the Haters.

look bianchi probably have hundreds of these from the 80's in a cellar somewhere and they are just riding the fixie wave to get rid of them, i mean a quill stem ffs

Bring 'em on, I say. Dublin is a perfect city for single-speed commuting (unless you live at the top of Knocmaroon Hill).

Quill stems? They do the job and, in my opinion, they're kind of elegant.

I much prefer quill stems... they just look right on a lugged steel bike

Hey, less of the quill stem bashing! The Cinelli quill stem on my old racer, now my commute bike, was a thing of desire a few (well, quite a few to be honest) years ago. In fact it wasn't so long ago that the chunky MTB style of modern stems were considered quite ugly on a road bike.

i actually have a itm quill stem on my commuter

and a cinelli on the bike that i will try to turn into a fixie (gasp) when i figure out wheel building

Some useful resources for wheelbuilding and/or wheel truing:

    * Sheldon Brown's wheel building guide
    * Park Tools wheel truing guide
