Laurel Hedging - help needed!!!

Hi there

We are required to plant a Laurel hedge, which should be at a height of approx. 2 metres in time. We would appreciate some advice in relation to the following:

• How long would it take a Laurel hedge to grow to a height of 2 metres if they were initially planted at a height of say 1 metre?;
• At what distance should they be planted apart in order to ensure that the hedge is thick enough to provide screening?;
• As we will be planting the Laurels ourselves (no prior experience of Landscaping!), can you please advise us on the ideal time of year to do the planting;
• How much do Laurels cost and can you recommend a place where we could source the Laurels at a fairly cheap price.

We would appreciate it if you could recommend a website or books where we could find some useful information that would be assistance to us.

Plenty of Q's there but can you specify which Laurel variety are you required to plant?
