I half thought about going to brisbane and trying to get in the great barrier reef and whitsunday islands but with flight time im wondering will i have enough time...

Looking to chill out and catch a few rays in some beautiful places, not interested in trecking around cities , Any other ideas?

    Hi,

I'm off to Kuala Lumpur myself on the 12th of December for 3 weeks or so.
I decided to stick to the westcoast of the peninsula as the rains on the east coast around that time are unbearable, alledgedly.

I'll spend a few days in KL, then down to MEdan on Sumatra for jungle trek and to see Urang-utans in the wild, from there flying to Penang to sample the food and do a bit of drinking - then flying to Phuket, staying overnight and then spending Christmas on Koh Phi Phi, a bit more drinking, reading in the sunshine etc..etc.. Flying from Krabi back to KL and not sure what to do with the last couple of days - Would be great to celebrate New Years in Singapore, but may prove to be too much hassle as my flight leaves very early on the 2nd of Jan.

Have you made any final plans ?

    Hi,

Well havnt set anything in stone as of yet, Im waiting until its a bit closer to pin down an exact route plan. Found a few cool places to go but they were mostly on the western side of malaysia and im only after the good weather so they were all ruled out.
My initial plan is to spend the first night in KL and then move onto the island Langkawi, its on the way to thailand, weather is good and looks nice aswell. then hit a few of the islands like krabi, phi phi in western side of thailand. should be good weather there so prob chill for 7-10 days. then over to koh phangan for a full moon party. one on xmas day and new years, not sure which one ill hit yet. Then wanna see koh tao and thats roughly it i think. The east side of thailand is rainy season but dont think it rains for long that time of year or so im told.
Other than that was half thinking of doing tubing in laos for a day or two as its ment to be great craic but i would have to fly there as it would be too far to get a train or bus, so have to look into it a bit more.
The 3 weeks seems like a long time but if you dont want to spend long travelling on buses and trains it doesnt leave much time to get too adventurous. Still looking for info or suggestions so keep me posted if you come up with anything,
    Cheers

only a couple of hours to bali and Java .. cheap and great fun.

Also the phillipines is an unreal country. if it ever gets its act together its far nicer then thailand. Boracay island is the most spactucular place to visit and stay.
