Jeep Electrical Glitch

    Hiya

Got a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee CRD and never had any trouble
with it. (low miles) Today, suddenly, the central locking won't work (stuck on open on all doors), the interior lights stay on when I'm driving and the climate control only works on high heat. Oh, and the electric wing mirrors no longer work.

Taking it to an auto electrician obviously, but if anyone has any ideas
whats going on, would be much appreciated!

    Cheers

    Max :)

Sounds like a interior light switch is faulty.

Check the small buttons that the door hits as they close and see if any have fallen out or are damaged

Thanks mate. Checked but there are no buttons that the door hits.

Found that I can lock the drivers door manually and then lock all the other doors with the remote, which solves the problem of securing the vehicle, but that doesn't explain why the electric windows and mirrors won't work, the interior lighhts stay on whilst driving and the climate only works on high heat :( Everything went at onece, with no warning at all.

Well the interior lights are connected to the same switch that works the central locking.

The aircon is probably designed not to work when the doors are open unless you force it to work by putting it on full. The mirrors may also not work with the door open.

The switch if you cannot see one (check both sides of the door, down at the sill below the lock and in at the hinges on the other side) may be in the door lock mechanism in the door itself.

Also check that the loom hasn't come undone or loose where it comes from the car to the door. It is probably inside a rubber boot
