Portable Luggage scales

for weighing your bags at airport check in etc to avoid the nasty Ryanair charges.
These are usally around the €20-30 mark.
Dunnes have them for €4 which looks a bargain seeing as Ryanair would charge you €15 per kil over their limit :eek:.
It's portable enough to bring away and also comes complete with a tape measure in it.

Picked up the one from DX couple of months back, great build quality and its digital. Well worth the money.

I couldn't find the 2 Euro shop one so I got the €5 one in homestore&more. Worked fine for my last Ryanair flight

What style is the one in Dunnes?

When I pictured a scales I assumed it was like a small bathroom style one where you put the bag on it. Holding a 25kg bag from a hook doesnt sound like much fun, plus you need a second person to read the weight.

Got one of these too. Digital is the way to go, much better than the spring ones.

bathroom digital scales - it can be awkward to hold the bag steady and see the weight

one option is to weigh your self and then pick up the bag, or put a cardboard box on the scales and then your luggage so you can see the scale

or you could hang up the analog scale and then it's easy to read the weight

Not that easy to do if you're away and trying to keep the bag under the limit with all the duty free/presents etc.

Tip on this. If you go to airports to where you give the bags in when they are put on the scale's. If you can find a check in desk with no one on it you can put your bag on it and do it yourself. A lot of airports have the weight on display on the customer side of the counter, just in case they have to charge you.
Ok its not really good if you want to do it before leaving the hotel, but I was coming back from spain we did this and balanced out the bag's.
