and your opinion on the matter?

FWIW no one in the banking sector should be getting an increase now, with all the bailing out etc

+ 1 When a child born today in Ireland is "born €35,000 in debt" there is hardly a single deserving banker in Ireland

Its actually not across the board, its only the areas of AIB that have signed up to the national wage agreement. Most companies that have signed up to it have given it to there staff (BOI gave it earlier this year).

    Wrong and wrong imo.

As far as I understand it the pay rise is part of the towards 2016 or whatever it's called. It was delayed 12 months but is being paid out now. It's also only for lower grade staff, I think I read that the average salary of those eligable is €30k.

This is for lower grade staff, hardly rich bankers who deserve scorn.

This increase was agreed and also, Bank of Ireland has made this payment already

I am surprised there is not more outrage at the 3.5% salary increase in AIB that was given to all staff in AIB below manager level!

Its not outrageous. Its more meh.

Wasn't Towards 2016 shelved when this crisis began? Has anyone got a link to this story? I'm surprised it hasn't kicked up a stink considering the public service is in line for further paycuts in the Budget! I think its a ****ing disgrace that they're getting a pay increase at all when inflation is running at -6.5%. It's basically a 10% pay rise for the most guilty of all sectors for our economic collapse. These bank workers are essentially public servants now that we are pressing ahead with NAMA. Need I remind people that our economy struggles with unemployment at 12.5%, our public finances have completely collapsed, our services are being slashed and the media and government continues to insist on us sharing the pain and tightening our belts etc. What the **** is this then?

absolutely disgusting move by the directors, for every 30 AIB workers who has just received a pay increase, someone has been put out of work
