Ireland in a group of 7, with England, India, South Africa, the West Indies, Bangladesh and the Netherlands:

With the current turmoil in WI cricket, Ireland could fancy their chances of a top-four finish in this group

So the top four from each group will get through to the next stage?,

would you guys prefer this group?,

it does look an easier group, well I think so...

Yeah looks the easier group right now but it's 2 years away, not much in speculating at the moment.

Top four from each group qualify for the Super 8s. Top 4 from the Super 8s qualify for the Semi-finals

Surely even a board as inept as the Windies wont let the dispute drag on for another 2 years? It is the easier looking group but Bangladesh can often play brilliantly in a one off game, sometimes even without the sniff of betting scandals!!!

Difficult one to call. We haven't beaten England, India and Bangl are home teams and the dutch have shown what they can do so..........piece of cake!

Agreed, but in another 2 years there will probably be another dispute:)

South Africa and India will be dangerous, but ODI England aren't much to write home about. Hopefully Morgan and Joyce will still be in the England team then, and we show them what they're missing.

We have some great guys coming through the ranks and they've a lot of older guard due to retire, so by the time 2011 rolls around, we'll have a fresh high-spirited team. Well, that's what I'm hoping for.

And I wouldn't say it was that easy last month. We did quite well against them. Morgan betrayed us, again!

    Ed can't buy a spot.
I read somewhere that the ICC would look favourably on a player coming the other way early, as the rule was not intended to limit the development of the Affiliates. Something like that anyway.

Basically, they might let him come back to Ireland for 2011 if he doesn't get back into the England Squad.

I was hoping we'd be in with Sri Lanka just for the holiday side of things but it's actually a decent draw and we'd have to fancy our chances in most of the games, though Bangladesh at home will be very difficult to beat.

Ah now, I know Eoin, he is a top lad and he is turning into a very very good cricketer, this is largely due to his experience with the England team imo, shame Joycey isnt getting the same opportunities though

Well wether it was easy for them or not is a matter of opinion i guess, it was not their strongest team and the were always n control in my opinion

I hope your right and that could happen in 2011, but its unlikely that England wont have better quality players coming through the ranks also isnt it!

We should be ok, maybe not great but you nevr know what will happen in the nex 2 years.Hopefully we can keep all of our players for then.I read that Boyd Rankin has been included in a list of 41 players to take part in an enhanced England performance program so it's not lookin good and he said that although he wants to continue playing for Ireland that if he wants to play test cricket then he will have to go to England. But we have a lot of good young players coming through so hopefully we can keep them for at least 2 years.

Does anyone think that Jeremy Bray is a terrible player?, no offence meant to the lad and he has to be doin something right to get into the team but he hasn't been doin too well in his last few games.

How can Morgan and Joyce play for England anyway? Is it to do with them playing for English county teams or what?

Its the same type of rule that lets all the South Africans play for various countries (England, West Indies, New Zealand).

Anyone can qualify for England provided they live in England or Wales for 4 years.

I knoe that it was something to do with living or playing in England for a certain number of years.

Jeremy is anything but a terrible player. He's not had a great trot in 50-over cricket for Ireland since his return from retirement, but he's a class act in 4-day cricket, and once he gets an innings going in 50-over he's devastating - look at his record for The Hills in recent seasons.

Bangalore is a smashing city, with the best climate in India, not too hot at all
