Malwarebytes is free and does the trick and easy to use.

    Download from here: http://download.cnet.com/Malwarebytes-Anti-Malware/3000-8022_4-10804572.html?part=dl-10804572&subj=dl&tag=button

Also it isn't just for removing Antivirus 2010:)

You could have other stuff lurking on your hard drive.

Stop that download, its not free, its a rogue anti-spyware program that will try scam you, it wont remove the infection

Try MBAM like it has been said

    Post the MalwareBytes log.

The log can be found here:

    C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Application Data\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\Logs\log-date.txt

Please post contents of that file in your next reply.

Thanks for the info ! Malwarebytes detected and cleaned up the antivirus pro 2010 ! However it hasn't solved the Registry stop error I am getting ! Getting a 7e and 8e error message when trying to load windows normally . I did a system restore thinking this might solve it but that didn't work! Computer boots fine in safe mode ! Have run System Mechanic 6 but still have same problem!

Anyone any ideas before I resort to an ISO XP reinstallation ! I suppose I could try a repair installion ?

Spyware Doctor is free in the google pack:
    http://pack.google.com/intl/en/pack_installer.html
Just uncheck the other software that you don't need and you can install it.
    Cheers!

i had that on my pc a good while back, it kept coming back when i removed it and then i got Brennan Computers in Kilkenny to come out and fix it, they put on the malware bytes thing and it was great, antivurs 2010 is a load of trouble because i know it only cost me €35 to get it fixed but can you imagine that probably millions of people have had to pay to get it removed, the people who make that software should be thrown in prison and the key thrown away!
