Just wondering if it would be safe to park a car at Sallins Train station overnight? Would it be better to park somewhere in the town?
Open to other suggestions along the M7 that would have a train station at a reasonable once off cost into dublin. Have heard bad stories about the Park & ride car park

Hi. The 'Park & Ride' at Sallins was a bit of a white elephant and is effectively now closed. It was a brand new underground car park but after initial teething troubles it eventually closed up as the surrounding development ran into difficulties. That is not to say there is no parking at Sallins train station though as the Park & Ride was to be additional parking.

The existing Irish Rail car park is still there and operational. Usually this has ample capacity (quiet due to the downturn, it used to be packed). There is also an option to park in the next door SuperValu carpark. Whilst officially commuters are not supposed to park here, unofficially it is tolerated but I would strongly suggest giving SuperValu a bit of business if you do even just a paper or a coffee as it is a good store and they are being very decent about the spillover parking.

Not sure about leaving the car overnight. There used to be a security issue a few years ago but I haven't heard anything lately. I would say it should be OK but who knows at the end of the day. There are people living beside the carpark on both sides of station so there is some activity.
