Wedding Room Allocation!!! Help

Many thanks for all your advice regarding my last post regarding wedding invites...

Has anyone any advice on how/where to advertise/sell hotel rooms allocated to us for our forthcoming wedding (half of which we think will not be taken up by our guests for a number of different reasons) - (including couple break-ups, loss of income & cheaper deals elsewhere:()

Under the contract we are obliged to pay for all rooms even those empty on the night of our wedding:mad: Yes we signed the contract, and reckoned three maybe four but not half...back then we ticked a lot more guests in for rooms who since have lost jobs or income..

Any advice appreciated as our funds dwindle faster than we thought possible as we approach our wedding day - this is causing us more worry than we ever thought..

Notify the hotel at this point that the rooms wil not be in use. They may be able to sell them for you.

If they do not sell, try and renegotiate with the hotel in relation to the cost of the rooms.

It's sometimes the case in smaller hotels - I believe for example Wineport Lodge requires you to book out the entire hotel for one night during the week and for two nights at weekends.

god MWK1811 thats terrible. speak with the hotel again and explain your circumstances and say you d consider changing the venue which would cost you less then paying for all the rooms.
we looked a one castle for our reception and were told we d have to book the 100 rooms if we wanted the date we were looking for!! thats 100 rooms at 215 pps- yeah right!!

    Hi there,
We were in a similar situation with one of the hotles we were looking at. They said we had to take the 20 rooms, and if they werent filled by our guests we would have to pay any shortfall. I was really worried about this as I was thinking it was a lot of money to ask people to pay for, especially when there was cheaper alternatives around. However, after worrying for about a month about this, - I mentioned it to some of my friends and family, - who all said they would take the rooms... so Im wondering have you mentioned it to your friends and family (aunties, uncles etc)? You might be very pleasently suprised by their response, - they might agree to take the rooms...
I know this might not help you - but if you put the word out there in a subtle manner - you might be suprised by the response you get...?? Just a suggestion...
