There was an April fools joke this year (or last year maybe?) claiming a reboot was in the works, but I haven't heard anything recently.

    Please post source, Richard.

    shazbot.

I think it would be good. I loved Mork and Mindy. Even a re-boot would be better than most of the crap currently out there.

But WHY "reboot" ? WHY screw up people's (admittedly nostalgic and rose-coloured) memories of a half-decent show by making a sub-standard, crap "new" version ?

They've tried and failed miserably with Knight Rider (even though new technologies - both real and CGI) should have made it ten times better.

Why don't they just show the originals ?

If a TV station put the following on for a Saturday, I'd be glued to it:

    Knight Rider
    The Greatest American Hero
    Midnight Caller
    Magnum P.I.
    McGyver
    Hardcastle & McCormick
    The Fall Guy

I'm watching Knight Rider on Bravo at the moment, and apart from some dubious abilities and the Commodore-64 graphics, it's a MILLION times better than the "reboot".

If the 80s version had better graphics (i.e. on KITT's screen, not the crap CGI transformer ****) and had the benefit of the web, texting, Bluetooth, wireless and Google Maps to factor into KITT, it'd be cool.

The new one even had KARR as some idiotic Robocop transformer, which would never have happened because - given that Hoff was in the pilot, everything in the original series had already "happened". I turned off immediately.

Anyways, I know I'm going off-topic, but it's just to show the many, many reasons to leave well enough alone.

They should come up with new series if they can, but leave the old ones alone, because the trend is to make a bollox of them.

    * OK - so Deanna Russo makes the new one worth a glance, but take her out and it's ****e.

The reason these shows were cult classics is because of the original stars. Don't remake Knight Rider without the Hoff, don't remake Mork & Mindy without Robin Williams.

And what the heck is it with all these 80's classics being redone? Things in the 80's should remain in the 80's!

For the ultimate Saturday, put on the following int morning:

    Voltron
    Transformers
    Thundercats
    Jayce and the wheeled warriors
    Centurions
    He man

    Mid afternoon

Captain power and the soldiers of the universe
    Simon and Simon
    Magnum

And then the list above. I would even eat three bowls of sugary cereal while watching that saturday.

I think if you are remaking a 1980s schmaltzy action adventure show you should avoid at all cost bring back any of the original cast most of the remakes that have work have worked because they avoided the original almost entirely, imagine if they cameoed people from the original BSG, they prob did, did they? You should also avoid the schmaltz.
    Knight Rider
    The Greatest American Hero
    Midnight Caller
    Magnum P.I.
    McGyver
    Hardcastle & McCormick
    The Fall Guy

    Bravo have some of these

and Boomerang have some of these
    Voltron
    Transformers
    Thundercats
    Jayce and the wheeled warriors
    Centurions
    He man

City channel was repeating Defenders of the Earth a while back.

Yes they did, Richard Hatch, the original Apollo, played Tom Zarek; Sageteraun terrorist and later vice president of the colonies.
