Okay what i want to do is sort of a eric clapton crossroads idea, have simple blues songs and then guitar solo improvs over it. I am looking for guitarists (of any style). Drummers and Bassists (Blues players only) and also if your a guitarist who can sing it would be an added bonus. The gig will be around christmas so let me know if any of yous are interested

Hey. This sounds like a pretty cool idea to me. Wanna tell me a little more about it?

I'm 22. Playing guitar around 8 yrs. I play rock mostly so I can play blues solos all day and sing decently enough. Not sure what format you have in mind exactly though.

well basically once i know all the people who are gonna play, i'll pick names of a hat to judge what groupr people will be in, probably aiming for about 3 groups

yeah blues covers, since they are simple to put together and easy to solo over too

I'd be willing to have a go at rhythm guitar/singing.
I'm not good enough for solos, though.

cool have yous got recordings/vids of playing and voice?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 63 ✭✭Kevin Murphy

well I've a few acoustic tracks on www.bebo.com/kevinmurphymusic but it's not blues. Has my voice though. There's a video of my old band with live performance footage and me going a bit nuts with a wireless guitar system. If you go to YouTube and search 'No Standing Poison' it should be the top result. I'd be Kevin, though my hair's short now.

I've no blues recordings to show you unfortunately. Not at the minute anyway. I'm writing a slow blues song I might have recorded in a month or so.

You can count me as 'interested' for this project and keep me informed. If I'll have the time to commit once I know how much time it involves and the gig date then I'll give my definite answer.

    Thanks

Like Clapton, Are you also a recovering alcoholic trying to fund a rehab centre or you just really like the Live Concert DVD?? You should sell some of your Guitars as well for the charity, you know the ones you've "endowed with your life". :D:D:D

N'ah just sh**ts n giggles, best of luck with it hope it comes off for you.

    Hi
I know its hard when you dont have confirmed people to play but do you know when and where you want to put this on, I would say my band soupstone www.myspace.com/soupstonedublin would be interested if we knew when.
Also just an idea for you, jj smiths put on an open mic the first tuesday of everymonth where people come along and get up with anyone else that is there and jam a blues song out. you might want to go one night as I imagine everyone there would like to play your gig.

If your open to have your band mixed then yes yous can play but don't want full bands to play (if you get what i mean) and yeah might check out jj smiths, where is it?

actually thinking of making this a lot simpler, guitarist and backing track, they can sing too or just solo over it, or another option two guitarists could play together, one playing rythym and other soloing over and then they can swap

well considering the short time frame i have to put this together, might just have guitarists with backing tracks or another guitarist

Hi, I'd be interested in this, blues guitar player, no vocals. Depending on when/where.

FWIW it would be better to have at least one drummer and one bassist for the night, rather than backing tracks. Less messing around, and a better sound/feel to the music. There is a similar blues jam in Monaghan town every month, with a house band providing the backing when needed and singers/guitarists etc joining them for a few songs. It works very well.
