Can anyone let me know what the approximate going rate for web freelancing? Is it priced per the hour or word?

    hey
    I'm a freelance web write myself. www.deansherwin.com

    It's okay...but it's nothing compared to print.

Forget trying to get loads of small jobs and expect good pay. The best thing you can do is to try and get constant contributor jobs...ie when you;re a regular on a website. All the big sites like lifehacker etc... need people. Just prepare a few sample.

The pay is normally per article. Small blogs and sites could pay you only $5 for 300 word posts where as big sites that want good quality features etc can pay up to $75 for 500 word articles.

Online magazines such as The Escapist (escapistmag.com) pay well for writers. I did a 900 word feature for them and I got 150 euro - two days work (4 hrs per day :D )

IF you need any advice or tips, PM me.

PS. Stay away from bidding sites. I wish someone had told me that wen I started. YOu get buttons for work on them.

Subscribe for freelanceswtich.com and look at their job boards. Also, freelancewritinggigs.com ;)

    -Dean
