Laptop just won't turn on - potential problem?

    Hi,

    My Compaq laptop recently just stopped working. The cable light comes on when it's plugged in but it just won't turn on when I push the start button.

    Any ideas on what the problem might be?
    I'm wondering whether it would be worth bringing to get fixed as it's two years old and buying a new laptop might be a better option if repairs would cost a lot.

    First thing to try is unplug it and remove the battery. Then plug it back in and try again.

    sounds like you drive has died it would cost around 150e to fix the drive.

    Try a number of things

    1) There is a test button on the battery, press it, If the light on the bat is red, battery is fecked, If green lights come on The bat has a charge, If nothing lights up then there may be a problem with power supply
    2) Check the power supply, check for cracks on the cable
    3) Remove battery and hold power button for 20 seconds ( with power in), return battery and attempt to start
    4) With battery in hold power button for 20 seconds (with power in)
