    Hi there,
I'm 23 and living at home with my parents. The only place I have ever worked was our family business(irregular and cash in hand), but they no longer have the hours to give me and I'm trying to get a job elsewhere but to no avail. Without credits built up, am I entitled to any benefits?:(

Depending on your parents income, you might get Job seekers allowance which is a means tested, but if your parents income is over the threshold then you wont recieve anything, you should into the social welfare office and apply for it anyway.

If I was you, I'd borrow E1000 off ur parents, move out to a bona fide rental property, and keep reciepts of rent. Then you might have a case for claiming supplementary, without your parents getting assesed. Dont mention the grand your parents gave you

And what would be the threshold for their income? Would I not have to have a genuine reason for living out of home?

Not sure about the threshold, but I'd say its pretty low. Think minimum wage for a yearX2 style. Nope, you'd nearly need a genuine reason for living IN home. Once ur 18 (or finished studying), its hit the road time:p
