Dublin Marathon as a stepping stone

So I need some advice on tapering or not for the DCM.

I'm training up for a 50 mile (run walk) in December and won't to know people opinions on whether I should taper or not for Dublin. There's only 5 weeks between events and I know some people here (crazy people) have done similar with Ironman etc. My goal time for the DCM is 3:45 (my goal time) although if my running partner does 3:40 I'll need a 3:39 (:D I know you all understand).

My original plan was to do the 3 week taper and then one week relaxing (nothing over 10 miles) then 2 weeks hard out building up to 2x20milers on consecutive days then a two week taper with almost nothing to do on the last week. My ultra isn't about aspped at all just maing the cutoff.

Will I be waisting time where I wcould be building fitness tapering for the DCM?

Taper for your A goals and train through the B and C goals is the only generic advice I could give.

+1 assuming your body handles it ok (which it should if you're pacing conservatively in Dublin)
