So, I looked up a few youtube tutorials on masking in Gimp, but I still don't get it :(

Attached screenshot shows what I've done so far.

Basically the main pic (which I don't want to display here as it's a secret) has two people against a background. I want to mask out the people so that I can fiddle with the background without affecting the people.

First off, is masking the right way to do this? And if so, can anyone tell me what the next step is? :o

Indeed I had to do a double take when I saw it.

    Oh god!:o

You've just made my brain dirty, and there's not enough bleach in the house to make it better.

I sneakily changed the title, but in the name of fairness, the original title was "Gimp Masks - help needed".

I'm going to go crawl into a hole now.

Edit: Gah! Feck! I've just noticed the name of the attachment. Reckon I should just delete everything and start again?
