Avoiding Pain from BB hits

Right, I normally wear just a BDU, with nothing under the top bit as I sweat like a pig for the first couple of games usually. BB hits are very painful across the back and side . What do you guys wear under the jacket to give a little more protection without sweating the conkers off yourselves ??
I just know someone has a clever answer to this. ( besides avoid BB hits :)).

wear tight layers under your loose fitting bdu and it takes a lot of te whack out of the hits. I'd usually wear one of those slingy tight fitting gym tops under mine and it doesnt bother me then,
or alternatively you can carry more tacticrap and hope the bb bounces off that instead., :D

somebody recommended strips of light sponge type padding(enought to slightly raise the shirt off your skin) across the back or sides, i need to do similar around my joints usualy an extra layer helps, you should get used to hits after a while :D

Baggy Clothing will absorb kinetic energy far better. Is your BDU jacket tight fitting or loose?
A tactical vest will absorb a fair amount too.
A 100% cotton T-shirt is a comfortable undergarment. It won't cause you to sweat much more either & will soften the hits until the adrenaline kicks in.

Under my BDU im a man so no further clothing is required :pac: (Sorry you did ask for a smart answer)

Anyway, i find a loose BDU jacket is enough to kill the power of most bb shots. I only really get worried about getting hit in the face or ears as i find that quiet painful. Problem with wearing a lose BDU jacket is that sometimes you dont feel the hits at all if it hits a fold or something.

Never had a problem while wearing a BDU.Worse experience was when I was wearing my ghillie.I got stuck in the mud guy came up behind with a lipo powered monster no "Bang" right into the back. Not as bad as paintballs at point blank but still annoying.I use the Jackel brand + T-Shirt BDU pants great for keeping cool.

Only time it really hurts is close range and on the face or head, a sting in the back or on the leg is nothing, I'd only worry bout marks on my face, chipping a tooth, bb in the ear, the rest is only a sting and if you are tired enough, you wont even be bothered to feel the pain.

you do realise that you shouldn't stand downrange....don't you???

The amount of times I've been whacked on the head by a hurley, or smacked into the head by a sliotar, seriously, a bb hit pales in comparison.

By the way, I've survived multiple concussions as a result of playing hurling and nothing happened to me.....now....what's my name?

are 0.5g BBs the heaviest you can get?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,138 ✭✭✭Tomebagel

.88 i think but there steel, and youd get more range out of them by throwing them:D

pain is what makes the sport fun!

As everyone else has said, HTFU princess.

On a more helpful note though, if the pain is bothering you then use it as motivation to get better at the game, you'll get hit less then.

Also, if you get too padded out then for sure it won't hurt as much when you get those close range hits but you may not notice the longer range hits. I think you'd enjoy airsoft better with a little pain but without loads of people running around accusing you of not taking hits.

So basically, HTFU. There's no permanent damage....except if you loose a tooth.

There is a solution to your dilemma! Invisible versions of this have been used by airsofters for a long time to make them impervious to BB strikes () however this is a much improved model which also enables you to walk on water
