I have a quick question, can someone clarify for me the amount of hours a day someone is legally allowed to work.

Can you also tell me the number of hours that legally has to be between the time you leave work and the time you start your next shift the following day?

thats excellent Tom and I got my answer ... sort of!!

I really need clarification on this though

Employee is entitled to 11 consecutive hours rest time in a period of 24hours.

Rest time is defined as time that is not working time.

    What about commuting time?

A friend of a friend:rolleyes: started work this morning in Meath at 8am and is still on site!! FAS are sending him to Limerick tomorrow (we're in Dublin) and he is expected to be there for 8am.

Does he have a leg to stand on legally if he requests not starting work until 12pm or so?

    thanks for any help

Eleven hours between shifts. Commuting time is not included.

So you could live one mile or a hundred miles from your job, the eleven hours just covers between shifts only.
